Knixpert Kailani king dishes some sage wisdom on living out your dreams and resolutions in 2014.
Think back to this time last year, when your New Years resolution for 2013 was put into action. Now jump back to the present moment and ask yourself if you followed through with this resolution. Be honest with yourself here, no one is judging.
If you are anything like the average person, your New Year resolution got pushed aside by the heavy stress of everyday life and probably didn’t go as planned.
It happens, you’re human.
So how do you ensure that your 2014 New Year’s resolution doesn’t just go in one year and out the other?
Easy! All you have to do is pay a full time coach to follow you around 24 hours a day.
To make your New Years intentions become a reality, you must follow the successful goal setting recipe. I will lay it out for you and you can taste test along the way. So clear the next twenty minutes, grab your pen and paper and get excited!
Successful New Years resolution recipe
1 cup of your vision
Shut your eyes and imagine your ideal life ten years from now. What would you do if you could not fail? Describe what you see, hear and feel in your ideal life. Who is with you? Get it all down.
1/2 cup of your five year goal
What is a goal that you need to accomplish five years from now in order to attain your vision? There may be a few but choose the juiciest one.
1/2 cup of your one year goal
Think of a goal that you need to accomplish in one year from now in order to achieve your five year goal. Again, there may be many but cut it down to one. This is the goal that we are going to work with to make your New Years resolution!
1 tbsp of meaningfulness
Make your goal powerful by making it authentic. Shut your eyes and ask yourself what you truly want. Think with your heart rather than your brain for this one. Now look at your goal and make any changes so that it brings you goosebumps when you read it.
2 tbsp of present tense
You are not creating a to-do or wish list here, you are creating your intention for right NOW. The only way that your intention will come true is if you live it every moment of everyday. Simply change your language to “I am” instead of “I want” or “I will.”
1 tsp of expansiveness
Don’t settle for mediocracy, go for the gold! Break free from limitation and expand yourself by replacing limiting words such as should, always and never with expanding words such as easily, gracefully, peacefully, naturally, joyfully, harmoniously, etc. For example, I am losing 2 pounds per week (limiting) to I am easily and gracefully losing 2 pounds per week.
A sprinkle of positivity
Make it about what you want rather than what you don’t want. What excites you? What drives you? Move towards these thoughts rather than negative thoughts. For example, “I am easily and joyfully maintaining my ideal body weight” versus “I am not overweight.”
You will know that you have created the perfect New Years when each word lifts your spirits and sends a surge of excitement through your body. Don’t force it! Keep modifying and tweeting your intention every day until it feels right.
When you have created your perfect New Years resolution, write it out in big, bold letters and put it somewhere where you will see it everyday, both first thing in the morning and when you go to bed. Bathroom mirror, anyone?
Next, post your resolution on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, email all your friends and family and get the word out! These daily reminders and the social support will create a solid foundation for you to walk the path towards achieving your big, audacious goal.
But don’t just make this a one time gig. Continue creating your resolutions every year and see just how fast your vision becomes your reality
So cheers to another year and another chance to live out your dreams.
