Secret Superfood #5: Red palm oil
Everyone raves about the benefits of vitamin E but many are mistaken with how it works and the best forms of it to consume. Without getting into the biochemistry of it all, it is extremely important to consume full-‐spectrum vitamin E and red palm oil is the richest source! Secret Superfood #6: Chicken and Beef Liver (and other organ meats)
This one may be shocking considering that the liver is mother of detoxification within the body and rumor has it that the liver stores toxins! But what must be understood is that toxins are not STORED in the liver but rather they are converted into water-‐soluble toxins that are excreted from the body. The truth is that liver is arguably the most nutrient-‐dense food on the planet! No, I am not kidding! The best part is that because of the misconception of liver being toxic and disgusting, it is extremely cheap! So swap out the multivitamins for the liver at least once a week and enjoy the health benefits!
Secret Superfood #7: Free Range Eggs
Known as “nature’s multivitamin,” eggs are a rich source of nutrients that are vital for absolutely every organ system within the body, especially the neurological and cardiovascular systems. Now if that does not get you excited about your next egg, maybe the fact that eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamins and minerals will! I have to admit, coconut oil is my favourite natural substance on the planet and I am sure that after introducing it into your life, you will say the same. Not only does it make for a great lotion for both the face and body, it’s the only oil that you should be cooking with! The reason for this is because coconut oil helps to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease by improving blood lipid profiles, helps increase muscle mass, enhances the immune system and neurological function and promotes weight loss on a low carbohydrate diet. Secret Superfood #9: Tumeric & Black Pepper
When it doubt, just sprinkle turmeric and black pepper into the pot! I say this because turmeric is anti-‐inflammatory, anti-‐lipid peroxidative, blood lipid improving, and anti-‐carcinogenic while black pepper enhances tumeric’s effect. This synergistic effect of turmeric and black pepper results in a reduced risk of most diseases, especially cardiovascular disease and cancer. Even if you don’t like Indian food, there are many ways that turmeric can be apart of your diet. I often sprinkle it on eggs, meat and vegetables and I even make smoothies with it!
