This week I took on the challenge of attempting a rather new and trendy workout class – surfing inspired fitness. I have never surfed before and quite honestly have fairly poor balance (I’m the gal on the subway that needs a seat or something to hang onto otherwise I’m guaranteed a wipe out). However, the classes looked fun so I thought I would give it a go.
I started with the yoga inspired class and let me tell you… is this ever a work out! From the moment I got on the board I new it would be a challenge. The unstable surface made every moment and position a challenge. My core was engaged throughout the entire 45 minute class. Everything from squats and planks to downward dogs, this class had it all.
If you are a suffer and eager to get back on the water, let this class give you some immediate satisfacation until summer arrives. If you are like me and would like to just give it a go, I would highly recommend it. The staff was lovely and the change rooms / work out space quite clean. Most importantly it was a challenge and the workout itself was intense and that’s what it’s all about!
