Happy Friday Everyone!
I hope that week 3 of the FitKnix 2015 Challenge has treated you well.
About a year ago I decided that I wanted to train for a 5k race that I was going to accomplish with my family. I was never a runner, but I wanted to start so I signed up for the ‘Learn to Run’ program at The Running Room. Twice a week our group would meet and slowly but surely I built up my resistance and was able to run the 5K!
This week I decided that I wanted to get back to The Running Room and train for the Toronto Yonge St 10k race during the month of April. I know that the only way I will be able to cross the finish line is if I train. Thus, I decided to sign up for the ‘10k Training’ group at The Running Room.
I had a few practices this week and I couldn’t be more excited! Everyone in the group is extremely encouraging and supportive. The whole concept behind this running program is to build up your resistance for the 10k race day. You start slowly, this week we ran for 3 minutes and walked 1 minute alternating for about 35 minutes. It was definitely a challenge, but it’s good to get back into the swing of things.
I know this is rather a long-term commitment, but I would highly recommend any of these Running Room programs to you. It’s a great way to meet new people and have a running buddy, especially when it’s one of those days where you just don’t feel like it. I am really looking forward to this and excited to cross the 10k finish line in April!
Tell me about your week? What activities did you partake in? What has been your favorite thus far?
Only 1 week left everyone! Keep up the good work!
